Women In Environment (WIE) invites you to join us for a virtual wine tasting event hosted by Arden in the heart of Portland’s Pearl District on Wednesday, October 28, 2020!
Like many professions, winemaking has traditionally been a male-dominated field. But in certain pockets of the world, women are staking their claim in the industry. In Piedmont, Italy, through fortuitous circumstances that we will discuss, women have been given a platform to show what they can do, and are proving their skills in a major way. And right here in Oregon, the number of women in wine is soaring. Join us to taste wines from two female winemakers a world apart, yet united in their dedication to making quality wine in a creative and responsible manner. Both utilize the method of biodynamics, an ancient and inherently feminine farming method, which we will discuss in depth. Come prepared to learn about culture and viticulture, drink some great wine, and get fired up on global girl power!
Space is limited, so register early! Tickets for this event are $30.00 (plus Eventbrite processing fees). The ticket price includes two half-bottles of wine, with virtual tasting led by Arden sommelier and owner Kelsey Glasser. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 21.
Please note that the wine must be picked up from Arden (417 NW 10th Ave; Portland, OR 97209) between Friday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 28. Attendees can also have the wines delivered between October 23 and 28 with a food order by ordering through Arden’s website (https://ardenpdx.square.site/s/order). Attendees who choose the delivery option will need to write the following in the delivery notes: “Add WIE tasting to delivery.” Note that Arden is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Arden is a seasonally-driven, wine-focused restaurant in the heart of Portland’s Pearl District. Taking its name from Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” the forest of Arden was an idyllic haven where one escaped the trials of the city to live off the land and to enjoy a simpler life. Arden sources all ingredients locally and the menu changes with the seasons. Helmed by chef Erik Van Kley and sommelier Kelsey Glasser, the two strive for a creative and symbiotic relationship of food and wine.
Registered attendees will receive an email prior to the event with a link to join the virtual wine tasting. Should you have any questions, please send an email to wie.portland@gmail.com.
