WIE welcomes back Dr. Kira Mauseth to continue to explore the mental, emotional and behavioral ways COVID has affected our professional and personal lives over the past year and a half.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our personal and professional lives in many ways that we may not recognize.  During this presentation, Dr. Mauseth will discuss the concept of a “disaster cascade” and the importance of finding the mental, emotional, and other resources necessary to feel resilient. The presentation will cover the behavioral health considerations for the current phase of the disaster and response, information about the physical and neuro-chemical processes at work that influence our behavior, and strategies for reducing burnout, compassion fatigue, and moral injury. Discussion on the importance of developing healthy boundaries and communication skills in the face of hardened opinions and strong feelings.
